Holster questions/recommendations

I have some questions about holsters.

I'm a noob and recently bought a s&w m&p 9c and want/need? to get a holster....so I'd like some opinions, recommendations as to what each of you think regarding a holster.....

Questions:
  1. What style is best ? Inside Pocket, In/Out Waist band, shoulder etcc....
  2. What material is best? Leather, kydex, plastic etcc....
  3. What vendor(s) make a good holster worth looking at?

Thanks,
David

Conceal Carry.

I'd have a much larger calibre/pistol if I were going Open. :coolbeer:

I personally like leather holsters. But I bought a Blade Tech kydex outside the waistban hip holster for my Nephew to train with. It is well made and is made of thicker material than the cheaper Fobus or Uncle Mikes "plastic" holsters.
I think a Blade Tech inside the waistband holster is what I would go with.
You would need a longish jacket to conceal an outside the waistband hip holster.
Also the kydex Blade Tech's are cheaper than the higher quality leather
holsters and wont absorb sweat.
I personally would stay away from any holster that has a button or lever you have to push to release the weapon. Just one more thing to go wrong during the draw.
Just my .02.

Take a look at the Minotaur MTAC. Great holster.

Kydex fan here, especially some of those ultra thin IWB offered by F.I.S.T., Inc...

Here is the one I use for my Glock 26/27/33:

I use kydex for games and for "plastic" guns. For carry, I prefer leather because it's softer, more comfortable to wear and offers better retention. I buy all my kydex gear from CompTac - quality products and great people to deal with. For leather, there are many quality makers to chose from, but most will probably have a few months waiting list if you order direct. M&P 9c is too big for pocket carry IMO, so pocket holster is out. Shoulder holsters are cool because that's how Sonny Crockett and many other "stars" carried their guns, but in real life, shoulder holsters are not very practical or safe. With that said, I carry in IWB holster during the summer time, and OWB when I can wear a long sweater or a coat. I also carry in an ankle holster when my dress code doesn't allow for IWB/OWB carry, but once again, M&P 9c may be too bulky for that application.

Check out an In Waist Band holster from UBG. I personaly made my own holster so I have not actualy owned an UBG holster but I have never once, ever, ever, ever heard a bad thing about them.

The striker I seems to be the most popular. Its a bit expensive, yes, but so is buying 4 different holsters that never feel quite right, know what I mean?

I see UBG recomended every where from ar15.com to glocktalk forums, etc..

Try the Galco Miami Classic, pretty comfortable way to keep a forty-five close at hand.

www.smartcarry.com

Best holster ever. I can carry a Glock 19 with an extra mag wearing pair of gym shorts and a t shirt.

I am not carrying my 1911 cocked and locked (or any other pistol for that matter) pointing anywhere near my
groin or any other body part. I don't care how "concealable" that
Smartcarry thing is.
Just my .02.
